This is our first ever blog and we thought that starting with a Technique Tuesday would be the best way to go.

Today’s exercise we are focusing is the bent over row. The two number 1 pictures are the form we are looking for, pivoted at the hips, chest close to parallel to the floor and the core braced tight to maintain a straight back. It’s important to remember to squeeze the shoulder blades together as you start to row the bar towards the stomach to engage the lats. Pictures 2, 3 & 4 show some common mistakes seen while attempting bent over rows. Most common are that people stand too upright and don’t keep the core braced and hunch over. The other most common mistake is lifting the chin, putting strain on the neck. We want to keep the chin down and neck inline with the rest of the spine.
